Do you want a story to go with the recipes?

I can't imagine why but here's a template so you can create your own story about any of the recipes on the page.  Here goes.

Hi, my name is _________.  I'm from _________ and grew up watching my _________ cook in his/her _________ since I was _________.  If there's anything I like more than _________ it's _________.  But sometimes I _________ if the _________ allows.  Ha Ha!  LOL!

Insert pictures.  The more the better.  Use some pictures from a vacation you took that aren't related to the story line.

Well, but, anyway... ( a terrible trite lead in but a must in long drawn out stories). I was visiting _________ in _________ and _________ with this recipe.  (here is where you regal us with unnecessary facts and trivia for about two paragraphs).  Insert emoticon.

Insert more pictures.  At least one should be of a pet.  Include a story.

Here you can tell us about each ingredient and the importance of following the recipe as you cleverly change the recipe before our eyes because you really didn't like the recipe in the first place.

As you know I love to _________ when cooking/baking/sunbathing and _________.  Every time I _________ I find that I _________ and _________.   Sometimes when the _________ is _________ I'll substitute _________ for _________ and _________ for _________ because, as you know by following my blog that _________ and _________ are essential to my _________ and _________.  OMG! Did I say that (or something as trite).

Ramble some more by repeating the above template with other unnecessary or unrelated information.

Insert pictures.

(Tell us about the recipe)  It was _________ and remarkably _________ and _________.  I often _________ when I think about how _________ and _________ were _________ when they said _________ about _________ while _________.

More pictures.  Show some flour and egg shells and a glob of something in a mixing bowl.

Now you can incorporate a completely unrelated tale in order to waste about 2 more paragraphs.  Rambling on is good.

Now you can include the recipe with the directions.  Insert photos and stories of each ingredient and between each step in the directions.

Somewhere be sure to tell about how people from someplace use one of the ingredients in other ways than cooking.  This obfuscates the post.

Now you can include the recipe without photos and stories between each step.

I hope you _________ this recipe as much as _________.  Be sure to put your comments below.

Say something witty and insert another picture.

THE END

Now you can make your own story and nobody will be the wiser.  Enjoy.

Hard Boiled Eggs – Instant Pot

Ingredients

     1-6 eggs

     1 cup water

Directions

Place eggs one rack and add one cup of water. Select "Eggs" and, if necessary, set time to 5 minutes.

1. Fill the Instant Pot with one cup of cold water. Add the steamer basket, or trivet and steamer basket, egg stand (if using) an egg.

2. Close and lock the lid of the pressure cooker. Cook for 5 minutes on Manual at low pressure.

3. When time is up, open the Instant Pot with the quick release method - release pressure through the valve.

4. Open and place the egg(s) in a container filled with cold water. Keep the water cool by bringing the container to the sink and running more cold water into the container for 1 more minute, to serve warm, or 3 minutes to cool down completely.

5. Tap the two ends and the middle of the egg and peel delicately. Enjoy!

1 1/4 cup steel cut oats. Not instant.

     1 TBL brown sugar (optional)
     Cooking spray

HamBeens 15 Bean Soup - Instant Pot

Ingredients

1 bag 15 bean soup blend from Hurst Beans (20oz)
8 Cups water or stock (or 4 C water, 4 C stock OR all water!)
3 cloves garlic, chopped
1 small sweet onion, chopped
2 stalks celery with tops, chopped
2 carrots, peeled and chopped
kosher salt and fresh black pepper to taste
1/2 tsp of ground red pepper
1 dried bay leaf
2-3 sprigs of fresh thyme
1 14.5 oz can of diced tomatoes, drain
TB olive oil
Flavor packet

Directions

Sort, rinse and drain dried beans.

In a 6qt Instant Pot or electric pressure cooker, place in all ingredients EXCEPT tomatoes and lemon juice and ending with olive oil.

Place lid on pressure cooker and set for manual high pressure 45 minutes. Be sure valve is set to SEAL and select the setting(s). It will take a few moments to come to pressure and then cook for 45 minutes. Once finished, and pressure has naturally dropped, remove lid, taste for seasoning (add if you want) and stir in tomatoes and lemon juice. Serve.

Once you have taken off the lid, added lemon, tomato and any seasonings you feel it needs- you can cook a bit longer with the lid off in the Instant Pot OR a slow cooker. I like to let mine cook a bit to meld the new additions together. This is optional and of course - if you want the beans to be softer then you need to cook another 5 minutes, with the lid on, at manual high pressure.

Chipotle Black Bean and Rice Skillet

Prep Time 10 minutes Cook Time 20 minutes Serves 2 servings

A perfect breakfast skillet for using leftover brown rice, this egg skillet uses chipotle black beans cooked with rice, greens and fried eggs.

Ingredients

      2 teaspoons olive oil
      1/4 cup minced red onion
      1 cup cooked brown rice
1/3 cup cooked black beans, drained and rinsed if using canned
      Juice from 1/2 lime
      1/4 cup water
      1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
      1/4 teaspoon coriander
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon chipotle powder (see note)
      1/4 teaspoon salt
      2 cups shredded baby spinach
      1/4 cup minced cilantro
      1 ounce goat cheese
      2 eggs
      Avocado, for topping

Directions

In an 8 inch skillet with a heavy bottom, heat olive oil over medium-low heat. Add onion and cook for 5 to 6 minutes until translucent and fragrant. Add rice, black beans, lime juice, water, spices, and salt.

Cook and stir until rice and black beans are heated. Fold in the spinach and cilantro, stirring until spinach begins to wilt and majority of water has been absorbed. Create well in the center of the skillet and crack egg into the center. Sprinkle goat cheese on top, cover, reduce heat to low, and let cook until egg whites are set and yolk is done to desired firmness, 8 to 12 minutes. Sprinkle with extra cilantro and serve with avocado.

Recipe Notes

Tips & Tricks: Chipotle powders can have a wide range of spice to them. I like a sweeter chipotle but I highly recommend starting with just a pinch and adding more if need be!
